NFCA recognizes six softball scholar-athletes

The Goshen College Maple Leafs softball team recently had six student-athletes take home Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2021-22 academic year. The six Maple Leafs that received recognition are Jessica Bachtell, Alisyn Catenacci, Kaylee Kates, Ri Koteles, Alyssa McDonald and Grace Schmitt.

According to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. The NAIA had 736 student-athletes meeting the required 3.5 grade-point average.

Bachtell and Koteles were seniors on the 2022 team, but Catenacci, Kates, McDonald, and Schmitt will all be returning for the 2023 season under the direction of new softball head coach Luke Wagner. Wagner's first day on the job is today, Monday, August 15.
