Gomez, Bollmann, and Scattolon win draws at ITA Regional Tournament

Mario Gomez and doubles team Kevin Bollmann and Pedro Scattolon from the men's tennis team won draws at the ITA Regional Championships last week. Indiana Wesleyan hosted the tournament from September 8 - October 1.

Gomez competed in the men's singles B draw and was the last one standing. He defeated opponents from Huntington, IU-East, and Lourdes in the first three rounds, winning those 8-2, 8-4, and 8-4. His opponent retired in the quarterfinals round after they were tied at five. His stiffest competition came in the semifinals round as he defeated Shadi Al Tori from Marian 9-8(6). Then Gomez won the finals 8-6.

Bollmann and Scattolon made it to the end in the men's doubles main draw. The team easily won all four of their matches, winning 8-1 in the round of 16, 8-3 in both the quarterfinals and semifinals and 8-2 in the finals against Alex Serwatka and Ethan Gray from Indiana Wesleyan.

Filippo Gallo advanced to the quarterfinals in the men's singles main draw by winning his first three matches. Kevin Bollmann made it to the semifinals in the men's singles B draw, and Pedro Scattolon made it to the quarterfinals. The Maple Leafs had three of the eight quarterfinal players in that draw and two of the four semifinalists.
