Goshen attacks the glass, improves to 4-1 with win at Judson

A season-best 54 rebounds and a double-double from Zoe Zellers was the main factor in the Goshen women's basketball team improving to 4-1 on Saturday night. They cruised past the Judson Eagles 80-56.

The Leafs were down 5-0 after the first 22 seconds of the game, but took their first lead at 15-13 and didn't look back. They were up seven at the end of the first quarter and 19 by halftime. The lead was as high as 31 in the third quarter and the final score was 80-56.

Zoe Zellers played for just 13 minutes, but achieved a double-double in that time frame with ten points and ten rebounds. She made four of her six shots, was two for two at the free throw line, and six of her ten rebounds were offensive rebounds. Zion Neat was 6-9 from the field and finished with 16 points. She had five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal. Kyla Foster had ten points and made two of her three three-point attempts. Kiana Oelling and Nay Butler each scored nine points - Oelling was 5-5 at the free-throw line and Nay Butler was 4-4 from the field. Sa'drea Rougeau totaled eight rebounds.

The Maple Leafs outrebounded the Eagles 54-30 and won the second chance points category 17-0. Goshen's 54 rebounds is the team's most for a true road game since pulling down 56 at Bethel on February 13, 2016.

Goshen is 4-1 this season and won their first road game of the year. They start Crossroads League play next Saturday, November 19, at Huntington at 1:00 pm.
