Everence Student-Athlete of the Week: Sophia Eli, Women's Basketball

Sophia Eli, a junior on the women's basketball team, has been named the Everence Student-Athlete of the Week for November 21 - November 28!

Eli scored 14 points in just 16 minutes off the bench for the Leafs on Tuesday against Grace. She played a monumental role as Goshen made a push late in the third quarter to stymie the Lancers. She hit a three to cut a ten-point deficit to seven and made herself known on the defensive end as well. Grace came out on top 74-57.

Eli was 4-7 from the field with four steals and a block. She is tied for fourth on the team in steals (7) and third in blocks (3). Eli is averaging 6.4 points per game - significantly higher than her 2.4 points per game average in 2021-22.

Way to go, Sophia!

The Everence Student-Athlete of the Week award recognizes outstanding performances by Goshen College student-athletes and is selected each week by the GC sports information office. It is sponsored by Everence, a faith-based financial services organization headquartered in Goshen.
