Rougeau hits three threes but #6 Marian dominates in second quarter on way to victory
The #6 Marian women's basketball team outscored Goshen 25-6 in the second quarter and won the game 87-41. The Knights are 21-2 overall and 12-1 in the Crossroads League this season.
The Goshen defense was strong in the first, holding the opponent to shooting 33% in the quarter. That quickly changed in the second, though, as Marian made 11 of their 13 attempts. The Leafs, on the other hand, went just 2-15. Marian continued the offense with 28 points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth. Goshen's 41 points are their lowest total in a game this season.
Sa'drea Rougeau was a bright spot for the Leafs, as she matched a season-high with three three-pointers made. The senior has scored in double-digits in two of the last three games and had just one double-digit game in the 12 games before that. Another senior, Emily Brandeberry, had her second-highest-scoring game of the season today, just two days after her highest-scoring game.
Goshen made 25.5% of their attempts, a season-low. The five starters combined to shoot 6-35. Marian shot 57.1% and had six players with 10+ points. Kinnidy Garrard posted 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
